Terms of Use
Effective Date: May 10, 2026
These Terms of Use (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of the SahiPlate mobile and web application, the websites sahiplate.com and www.sahiplate.com, and any related features, content and services (collectively the "Services"), all provided by VP Technology Ventures LLC, a limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of California, with its principal place of business at 144 S 3rd St, Unit 126, San Jose, CA 95112, USA ("SahiPlate", "Company", "we", "us" or "our"). The Terms form a binding agreement between you and SahiPlate. They are not entered into with Apple Inc., Google LLC, or any other distribution platform.
What SahiPlate is. SahiPlate is an AI diet compliance assistant for weight loss. We do not count calories or macros and we are not a fitness, workout, medical or therapy app. We provide low-friction, culturally-aware nutrition guidance: yes/no verdicts on meal photos, one-tap swaps, plate-structure rules, rule enforcement against your saved no-list and allergies, and decision simplification across multiple cuisines.
By creating an account or otherwise using the Services you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Cancellation & Refund Policy, including the dispute-resolution provisions in Section 18. If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.
Questions? Email legalnotice@sahiplate.com.
1. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change materially affects your rights we will notify you in advance via the Services or by email and, where required, ask you to accept the updated version. Minor, non-material changes (typos, clarifications, descriptions of new features) may be made without notice. Continued use after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance.
2. Important Disclaimers
Not medical advice. SahiPlate is an informational tool that helps you stay compliant with the eating plan you choose. It is not a medical device, healthcare service, prescription, diagnosis, or treatment plan, and no clinician-patient relationship is created by your use of the Services. Always consult a qualified physician, registered dietitian or other licensed healthcare professional before making changes to your diet, exercise, or any condition that affects your health. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call your local emergency number immediately.
Weight loss disclaimer. SahiPlate is designed to support weight-loss compliance, but individual results vary significantly and are not guaranteed. Outcomes depend on many factors outside our control, including age, sex, height, starting weight, genetics, metabolism, hormonal and medical conditions, diet quality, portion sizes, physical activity, sleep, stress, and consistency of adherence. We make no representation, warranty or guarantee that you will lose any specific amount of weight, lose weight at any particular rate, or lose weight at all.
No calorie counting. SahiPlate does not measure, track or report calorie or macronutrient totals. Any portion guidance, plate-structure suggestion, verdict, swap or "try instead" recommendation is a heuristic compliance signal based on photo analysis and your saved preferences — not a quantitative nutrition calculation. Do not rely on the Services as a substitute for professional dietetic analysis.
Meal photos disclaimer. Photos shown alongside suggested meals, day plans, "try this instead" replacements, or category labels are illustrative thumbnails only and are never real photos of your food. Per-dish images may be AI-generated and category images are reused across many dishes that share the same serving format. Actual ingredients, preparation, oil, salt, sugar, garnish, plate, portion weight and nutritional value will differ from what is shown. Do not rely on the photo as a guide to portion size, allergen presence, or visual identification of any specific dish.
No liability for food items, cooking methods, ingredients or preparation. Any food item, dish, named recipe, cooking method, ingredient list, prep guide, swap, "try this instead" suggestion, plan card, portion cue, or category label shown in the Services is a generic informational suggestion generated from heuristics and your saved preferences — it is not a tested recipe, food-safety instruction, or professional culinary or nutritional advice. Real dishes and food items vary widely by region, household, vendor and cook; actual ingredients, oil, salt, sugar, spice, allergens, cross-contact, cookware, temperature, cook time and storage conditions can and will differ from anything shown. You are solely responsible for verifying every food item and ingredient before purchase or consumption, for following safe food-handling and cooking practices, and for confirming suitability with a qualified professional if you have allergies, intolerances, medical conditions, are pregnant, or are cooking for children, the elderly or other vulnerable people. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any illness, allergic reaction, injury, spoilage, loss or damage arising from reliance on any food item, cooking method, ingredient, prep step, portion or other suggestion shown in the Services.
2.1 Allergy & cross-contact warning
Do not rely on the Services to keep you safe from allergens. Ingredient lists, dish names, photos, category labels, prep guides, "try this instead" swaps, plan cards and any other content shown in the Services are generic, illustrative and incomplete. They may omit, mislabel or misidentify allergens (including but not limited to peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, soy, wheat, gluten, sesame, fish, shellfish, mustard and sulphites), hidden ingredients, additives, oils, marinades, garnishes, sauces, stocks, frying mediums, and traces from shared utensils, cookware, fryers, grills, surfaces, storage and packaging.
Cross-contact is not detected. The Services cannot see, measure or warn about cross-contact, cross-contamination, shared equipment, shared oil, airborne particles, or trace amounts in any kitchen, restaurant, street vendor, packaged product or home preparation. A dish marked safe, "OK", "try this" or free of a given ingredient may still contain or be contaminated by that ingredient.
Your responsibility. If you, or anyone you are cooking or ordering for, has a food allergy, intolerance, sensitivity, coeliac disease, FPIES, or any other medical condition affected by food, you must independently verify every ingredient and preparation step with the cook, vendor, manufacturer or a qualified medical professional before purchase or consumption, read full product labels, and follow your own allergy-management plan (including carrying prescribed medication such as epinephrine where applicable). Do not use the Services as a primary or sole source of allergen information.
No liability for allergic reactions. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any allergic reaction, anaphylaxis, intolerance flare, illness, injury, hospitalization, loss or damage arising from undetected allergens, undisclosed ingredients, cross-contact, mislabeling, or any reliance on ingredient photos, suggestions or other content shown in the Services. In an emergency, call your local emergency number immediately.
2.1a AI ingredient detection is not accurate or reliable
Ingredient detection, dish identification and any "safe / avoid / no" verdict shown by the Services are produced by automated AI models from a single photo or short text description, and are inherently inaccurate, incomplete and probabilistic. AI models can — and frequently will — misidentify the dish, miss ingredients that are present, hallucinate ingredients that are not present, fail to detect hidden ingredients (oils, ghee, butter, cream, nuts, nut pastes, peanut oil, sesame, soy, gluten, dairy, eggs, fish sauce, shellfish stock, gelatin, alcohol, sugar, sweeteners, additives, food colourings, spices, marinades, glazes, coatings, garnishes, thickeners, broths and stocks), confuse look-alike ingredients (paneer vs tofu, chicken vs mushroom, ghee vs oil, almond milk vs dairy milk, wheat vs millet, etc.), and produce confident-sounding outputs that are wrong. Confidence scores, percentages, "low risk" labels and similar signals shown in the Services are estimates only and do not guarantee accuracy.
You must NOT rely on the Services to decide whether a food is safe to eat if you have a food allergy, intolerance, coeliac disease, FPIES, diabetes, hypertension, PCOS, kidney disease, liver disease, cardiac disease, high cholesterol, IBS, reflux, pregnancy-related dietary restrictions, religious dietary restrictions, or any other medical, dietary or religious condition affected by food. Setting allergies, dietary restrictions, wellness goals, medical conditions, cuisines or any other preference inside the app does not guarantee that flagged items will be detected, that unflagged items are safe, or that suggestions, meal plans, swaps, portion guidance, recipes, grocery lists or any other AI-generated output is correct, complete, suitable for your condition, or compliant with your restrictions. Personalisation features are convenience aids only — they are not a substitute for reading every label, asking the cook, vendor or manufacturer, and consulting a qualified medical professional, registered dietitian, allergist or pharmacist before eating.
Your sole responsibility. Before consuming any food based in whole or in part on output from the Services — including a verdict, suggestion, swap, plan card, portion guidance, recipe, shopping list or any text or image — you must independently verify every ingredient, preparation method, portion size, allergen presence, cross-contact risk and suitability for your medical, allergy, dietary or religious requirements. If in doubt, do not eat the food.
No liability for AI inaccuracy or reliance on AI output. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any allergic reaction, anaphylaxis, intolerance, blood-sugar event, blood-pressure event, medication interaction, hospitalisation, illness, injury, emotional distress, spoilage, loss or damage arising from inaccurate, incomplete or misleading AI output, missed or hallucinated ingredients, missed or incorrect allergen detection, wrong dish identification, unsuitable suggestions for a medical condition, or any other reliance on output from the Services. Use of the Services is at your own risk.
2.2 Orders placed through third parties
SahiPlate does not prepare, sell, deliver or fulfil any food. Any order, reservation or purchase you place with a restaurant, cloud kitchen, cafe, street vendor, grocery store, supermarket, food delivery app (e.g. Swiggy, Zomato, Uber Eats, DoorDash, Instacart), meal-kit service, packaged-goods manufacturer, or any other third party — whether discovered, suggested, linked or referenced through the Services — is a transaction solely between you and that third party. We are not a party to that order and do not act as your agent, broker, nutritionist, allergy advisor or food-safety inspector.
Third parties control the actual food. Ingredients, recipes, substitutions, preparation, cooking method, oil, salt, sugar, spice, allergens, cross-contact, hygiene, temperature, storage, packaging, portion size, pricing, availability and delivery are entirely controlled by the third party. The dish you receive may differ materially from any name, photo, ingredient list, prep guide, swap or "try this instead" suggestion shown in the Services.
Verify before ordering and on receipt. Before placing any order, and again when the food arrives, you must independently confirm the full ingredient list, allergen information, preparation method and suitability for your needs directly with the restaurant, vendor, manufacturer or delivery platform, and read all on-pack labels and platform allergen disclosures.
No liability for third-party orders. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any act, omission, ingredient, allergen, cross-contact, mislabeling, illness, allergic reaction, injury, late or missing delivery, incorrect item, refund dispute, payment problem, loss or damage arising from any order, purchase or interaction with a restaurant, vendor, delivery platform or other third party, including where that third party was suggested, linked or referenced through the Services. Any complaint, refund or claim must be raised directly with the relevant third party under its own terms.
2.3 Food-safety & safe-handling tips
The following tips are general reminders only, not a complete food-safety standard. They do not replace official guidance from your local food authority (e.g. FSSAI, FDA, FSA, EFSA, WHO) or advice from a qualified professional. Follow whichever standard is stricter.
- Wash hands & surfaces. Wash hands with soap for at least 20 seconds before, during and after handling food. Clean utensils, boards, counters and reusable bags between uses, especially after raw meat, poultry, fish, eggs or unwashed produce.
- Separate raw & ready-to-eat. Use different boards and knives for raw animal products and ready-to-eat foods to avoid cross-contact. Store raw meat, poultry and seafood on the lowest shelf in sealed containers.
- Cook to safe internal temperatures. Use a food thermometer. As a general guide: poultry to 74 °C / 165 °F; ground meats to 71 °C / 160 °F; whole cuts of beef, pork, lamb to 63 °C / 145 °F with a 3-minute rest; fish to 63 °C / 145 °F; eggs until yolk and white are firm; reheat leftovers to 74 °C / 165 °F. Local rules may differ.
- Keep hot foods hot, cold foods cold. Hold hot food above 60 °C / 140 °F and cold food below 5 °C / 41 °F. Do not leave perishable food in the "danger zone" (5–60 °C / 41–140 °F) for more than 2 hours, or 1 hour if ambient temperature is above 32 °C / 90 °F.
- Refrigerate & freeze promptly. Refrigerator at or below 4 °C / 40 °F; freezer at or below −18 °C / 0 °F. Use cooked leftovers within 3–4 days, or freeze. Thaw frozen food in the fridge, in cold water, or in the microwave — never on the counter.
- Wash produce. Rinse fruit and vegetables under running water before peeling, cutting or eating, even if you plan to peel them.
- Mind high-risk foods. Raw or undercooked eggs, meat, poultry, seafood, sprouts and unpasteurised milk/juice/cheese carry higher risk — especially for pregnant people, infants, young children, older adults and anyone immunocompromised.
- Check labels & dates. Read ingredient and allergen labels every time (formulations change). Respect "use by" dates for safety and discard food that smells, looks or feels off — when in doubt, throw it out.
- Allergen safety. Wash hands, boards, pans and utensils thoroughly between handling allergens and allergen-free food. Store allergens separately and clearly labelled.
- Safe water & ice. Use potable water for cooking, washing produce and making ice; if water safety is uncertain, boil or use sealed bottled water.
For complete and current guidance, consult your local food-safety authority (for example FSSAI in India, the USDA/FDA in the US, the FSA in the UK, EFSA in the EU, or WHO globally). To the maximum extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any illness, injury, spoilage, loss or damage arising from your application of, or failure to follow, these or any other food-safety practices.
2.4 Regional, vendor & household variation
Recipes, ingredients and availability vary widely. Any dish, named recipe, ingredient list, portion cue, prep guide, swap, "try this instead" suggestion, plan card or category label shown in SahiPlate is a generic reference. The same dish can be cooked very differently from one region, country, state, city, community, restaurant, street vendor, brand or household to the next — and even between two batches from the same cook. Ingredients, oil, salt, sugar, spice level, dairy use, garnishes, sauces, marinades, frying medium, cookware, technique, portion size, plating, fortification and additives can all differ from what the app shows.
Availability is not guaranteed. Specific ingredients, brands, cuts, produce, dairy, grains, flours, spices or packaged products mentioned in the Services may be seasonal, local, out of stock, reformulated, renamed, discontinued, or unavailable in your region, store, market or delivery area, and prices and pack sizes can change at any time without notice.
You should adapt and verify. Treat every suggestion as a starting point only. Adjust ingredients, quantities, cooking method and seasoning to match what is actually available where you live, your cook's practice, your household preferences and any dietary, medical or religious requirements. Always confirm the actual ingredients used in a dish — including substitutions made by the cook, vendor or manufacturer — before consuming it. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any difference between what is shown in the Services and the dish or ingredient you actually obtain, prepare or consume.

5.5 No impersonation. You may not create an account using a name you do not have the right to use, or impersonate any other person.
6. Acceptable Use
You will use the Services only for personal, non-commercial purposes and only in compliance with applicable law. You will not, and will not permit any third party to:
- use the Services for any unlawful, fraudulent, harassing, defamatory or harmful purpose;
- upload, transmit or generate content that infringes any intellectual-property, privacy or other right of any person;
- upload media containing hate, abuse, obscenity, pornography, sexually explicit material, violence, self-harm content, or content depicting minors;
- introduce malware, viruses, worms or any other harmful code, or attempt to probe, scan, disable or interfere with the security or integrity of the Services;

- use the Services to compile data for or to develop a competing product;
- send chain letters, spam, unsolicited promotions, or solicit other users without consent;
- circumvent or attempt to bypass any technical limitation, quota, paywall or access control.
7. AI & Generative Features
SahiPlate uses generative AI — including third-party large language models and image-generation models accessed through providers such as Google (Gemini), OpenAI (GPT) and the Lovable AI Gateway — to identify dishes from your photos, generate verdicts, suggest swaps and produce illustrative imagery (the "AI Features"). A plain-English summary of the rules below lives in our Acceptable Use & AI Rules. By using the AI Features you agree to the following:
7.1 Acceptable AI use
You will not use the AI Features to:
- generate or attempt to generate illegal content, including child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate imagery, terrorism content, or content that violates export control laws;
- create deepfakes, impersonations or misleading depictions of real people without their consent;
- produce hate speech, harassment, threats, or content that incites violence or self-harm;
- produce malware, exploit code, phishing content or other security-harmful output;
- jailbreak, prompt-inject, or otherwise circumvent the safety measures of the underlying models;
- generate medical, legal, financial or other regulated professional advice and present it as such;
- upload photos of other people without their consent, photos of minors, or content you do not have the rights to.
7.2 Your responsibility for prompts and outputs
You are solely responsible for the prompts, photos and other inputs you submit and for how you use any output. You represent that you have all necessary rights to the inputs you submit. AI outputs may be inaccurate, biased, incomplete or otherwise unsuitable; you must independently verify any output before relying on it, especially anything related to your health, allergies, medication or finances.
7.3 Intellectual property in inputs and outputs
As between you and SahiPlate, you retain ownership of your inputs. To the extent outputs are eligible for ownership and produced for you, we assign such ownership to you, subject to (a) the rights of the underlying AI providers, (b) the nonexclusive license back to us in Section 9, and (c) any limitations of the relevant provider's terms. AI outputs are not unique and similar outputs may be generated for other users.
7.4 Takedown and repeat-infringer policy
If you believe content available through the Services infringes your rights, send a takedown notice with sufficient detail to legalnotice@sahiplate.com. We will review and remove or restrict content where appropriate. We may suspend or terminate accounts of users who repeatedly infringe the rights of others or violate Section 7.1.
7.5 Content moderation rights
We may at our discretion remove, restrict, refuse to generate, or filter any content or output that we believe violates these Terms, harms users, exposes us to legal risk, or breaches the policies of our AI providers.
7.6 No professional advice
AI outputs in SahiPlate are general informational suggestions only. They are not a substitute for advice from a licensed physician, registered dietitian, mental-health professional, lawyer or financial adviser. Do not use them for diagnosis or treatment.
8. GLP-1 & Medication Tracking
Where the Services include any feature that lets you log medications you choose to record (for example a GLP-1 tracker), the feature is for your personal organization only. SahiPlate does not prescribe medication, recommend dosing or titration, or offer treatment guidance. Always consult your prescriber.
9. Your Content — License to Operate the Services
You retain ownership of any content you upload, including meal photos, notes, ingredients, plans and AI prompts ("User Content"). You grant SahiPlate a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable and sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, adapt, display and otherwise use User Content solely as necessary to operate, provide, secure, maintain and improve the Services (including running compliance checks via our AI providers). You represent that you have all rights necessary to grant this licence.
10. Intellectual Property
The Services, including all software, design, text, graphics, logos, illustrations, cuisine taxonomies, plate-structure rules, swap heuristics, prompts, and the SahiPlate name and marks, are owned by VP Technology Ventures LLC or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property and other laws. Except for the limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Services in accordance with these Terms, no rights are granted to you. You may not use the SahiPlate name or marks in any way that suggests endorsement or association without our prior written consent.
11. Warranties
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that the Services will detect every allergen, ingredient, dish or restriction, or that any verdict, swap or recommendation will be correct for your body, condition or goals. Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of certain warranties, in which case the above exclusions apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
12. Limitation of Liability
12.1 Exclusion of indirect & consequential damages. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SahiPlate, its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, contractors, agents, suppliers and licensors (together, the "SahiPlate Parties") shall not be liable to you or any third party for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, reliance or enhanced damages, or for any loss of or damage to profits, revenue, savings, business, contracts, goodwill, reputation, anticipated benefits, data, content or information, or for business interruption, cost of substitute goods or services, personal injury, emotional distress, allergic reaction, illness, food spoilage, property damage, or any other intangible loss, in each case arising out of or in any way connected with these Terms, the Services, any meal, dish, ingredient, photo, plan, swap, prep guide, recommendation or other content shown in the Services, any third-party order, vendor, restaurant or delivery platform, or your inability to access or use the Services — whether based on warranty, contract, statute, tort (including negligence), strict liability or any other legal theory, and whether or not the SahiPlate Parties have been advised of the possibility of such damages and even if a limited remedy fails of its essential purpose.
12.2 Aggregate cap. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the SahiPlate Parties' total aggregate liability for all claims of any kind arising out of or related to the Services, these Terms, or your use of (or inability to use) the Services will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount of fees you actually paid to SahiPlate for the Services during the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event first giving rise to the claim or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100). Multiple claims do not enlarge this cap.
12.3 Allocation of risk. You acknowledge that the fees and other terms of these Terms reflect the allocation of risk set out above, that the limitations and exclusions in this Section 12 are an essential basis of the bargain between you and SahiPlate, and that the Services would not be provided on these terms without these limitations.
12.4 Carve-outs & mandatory law. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including (where applicable) liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, gross negligence, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability under mandatory consumer-protection, product-liability or similar laws. If you are a consumer, you may have statutory rights (for example under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, the EU Consumer Rights Directive, applicable US state consumer-protection laws, India's Consumer Protection Act 2019 or similar laws in your jurisdiction) that are not affected by these Terms; the limitations above apply only to the extent permitted by those laws. If any portion of this Section 12 is held unenforceable, the remaining portions remain in full force and effect.
13. Indemnity
You will defend, indemnify and hold harmless SahiPlate and its affiliates from any claim, demand, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) your User Content, (b) your use of the Services in breach of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any law or third-party right.
14. Suspension & Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services, in whole or in part, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that you have (a) materially breached these Terms, (b) failed to pay any amount due, (c) used the Services in a way that creates security, fraud or legal risk, or (d) repeatedly or seriously violated our Acceptable Use or AI policies. You may stop using the Services and close your account at any time. On termination, your right to use the Services ends. We may delete your account data after a reasonable wind-down period; you may request an export of your data before deletion as described in the Privacy Policy.
15. Export Compliance & Sanctions
You represent that you are not located in, under the control of, or a national or resident of, any country or region subject to U.S. government embargo, and that you are not on any U.S. government list of restricted or denied parties.
16. Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any rights or obligations under them without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction, including in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
17. Force Majeure
We will not be liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil unrest, government action, labour disputes, internet or telecommunications failures, denial-of-service attacks, or failures of our AI or hosting providers.
18. Dispute Resolution & Arbitration
You and SahiPlate agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting legalnotice@sahiplate.com. If a dispute cannot be resolved within 30 days, you and SahiPlate agree to resolve it through final and binding individual arbitration administered under the rules of a recognized arbitration body in Santa Clara County, California, except where prohibited by applicable law or where both parties agree in writing to court resolution. Class actions, class arbitrations and representative actions are waived to the maximum extent permitted by law. You may opt out of this arbitration provision within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing the address above with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out".
19. Governing Law & Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. To the extent a claim is not subject to arbitration, the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts of Santa Clara County, California, and waive any objection to venue or forum non conveniens.
20. Miscellaneous
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Cancellation & Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between you and SahiPlate regarding the Services and supersede any prior agreement on the same subject. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver. Headings are for convenience only.
