This Cookie Policy explains how VP Technology Ventures LLC ("SahiPlate", "we", "us" or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on sahiplate.com, www.sahiplate.com and the SahiPlate AI diet compliance assistant (the "Services"). It supplements and should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

By continuing to use the Services you agree to the use of strictly necessary cookies. Where required by law (for example in the EEA and UK) we ask for your consent before setting analytics or other non-essential cookies.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We also use related technologies such as local storage, session storage and secure HTTP-only tokens (collectively referred to as "cookies" in this policy) to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and operate the Services.

2. Categories of Cookies We Use

2.1 Strictly necessary

These are required to deliver the Services you request and cannot be turned off in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions you take such as signing in, accepting terms or submitting a meal photo.

Sign-in session — keeps you authenticated between requests.
CSRF / security tokens — protect against cross-site request forgery and abuse.
Terms acceptance — records the version of our Terms and Privacy Policy you have accepted.
Sidebar / UI state — small cookie that remembers whether the navigation sidebar is open.

2.2 Functional

These remember choices you make so the Services behave the way you expect.

Selected cuisines, allergies and custom no-list ingredients.
Theme (light/dark), photo capture mode and other display preferences.
Recently used dishes and saved-meal shortcuts.

2.3 Analytics

These help us understand how the Services are used so we can improve performance and the product. They are aggregated and do not identify you individually. Where legally required, we set them only after you give consent.

Page and screen views, feature usage counts, error rates.
Performance and reliability metrics for the AI compliance assistant.

2.4 Advertising

We do not use third-party advertising cookies and we do not sell your personal data. SahiPlate is funded by paid subscriptions, not advertising.

3. Third Parties That May Set Cookies

We rely on a small number of trusted service providers who may set cookies on our behalf strictly to operate the Services:

Lovable Cloud / Supabase — authentication, session management and database hosting.
Paddle.com Market Limited — our Merchant of Record for billing, fraud prevention and tax compliance on checkout pages.
Lovable AI Gateway (Google, OpenAI as model providers) — request routing for the AI compliance assistant. These providers do not set cookies in your browser through our Services.

Each provider acts under a written data processing agreement and is bound by their own privacy and cookie policies.

4. How Long Cookies Stay on Your Device

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
Persistent cookies stay until they expire (typically up to 12 months) or until you delete them.
Sign-in tokens are rotated regularly and expire on logout or after a period of inactivity.

5. Managing Your Choices

You can control or delete cookies at any time using your browser settings. Most browsers let you:

see what cookies are stored and delete them individually;
block third-party cookies;
block cookies from specific sites;
block all cookies; or
delete all cookies when you close your browser.

Disabling strictly necessary cookies will break parts of the Services — for example, you will not be able to stay signed in or save your meal checks. Where we rely on consent for analytics cookies, you can withdraw consent at any time by clearing cookies for our domain in your browser settings.

6. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Because there is no consistent industry standard for how to interpret DNT, our Services do not currently respond to DNT signals. We instead limit tracking by not using third-party advertising cookies and by minimising analytics to what is necessary to operate the product.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, law, or how we operate. We will post the updated policy with a new effective date and, where changes are material, give you advance notice via the Services or by email.
